Indian Army Set to Receive Final Three Apache Attack Helicopters in December, Strengthening Combat Readiness

The Indian Army will receive the remaining three Apache attack helicopters in December, completing a six-helicopter order placed in 2020. All helicopters will be deployed in Jodhpur, significantly boosting the Army’s attack aviation capabilities and strengthening border security and surveillance operations.

The Indian Army is poised to significantly enhance its combat aviation capabilities as it prepares to receive the final three Apache attack helicopters from the United States later this December. With this delivery, the Army will complete the induction of all six Apache helicopters ordered under a 2020 defence procurement agreement.

The deal for six Apache attack helicopters was signed in February 2020 as part of India’s broader effort to modernise its military aviation fleet. Three of these advanced helicopters have already been delivered and inducted into service. The remaining three are now scheduled to arrive by the end of this year, according to official sources.

Once delivered, all six Apache helicopters will be stationed in Jodhpur, a strategically important location in western India. The deployment is expected to play a key role in strengthening the Army’s operational preparedness, particularly in desert and border regions where rapid response and precision strike capabilities are crucial.

The Apache attack helicopter is regarded as one of the most advanced combat platforms in the world, equipped with sophisticated sensors, weapons systems, and night-fighting capabilities. Defence experts note that the full induction of the Apache fleet will provide a substantial boost to the Indian Army’s attack aviation wing, enhancing its ability to conduct surveillance, support ground troops, and respond effectively to emerging security challenges.

The completion of this delivery marks another step in India’s ongoing military modernisation drive. With all six Apache helicopters set to become fully operational from Jodhpur, the Army’s ability to secure borders and maintain heightened vigilance is expected to improve significantly, reinforcing India’s overall defence posture.
